I heard we should be getting our emails and stuff about three weeks or so after the deadline for the deposit. What specialty are you, evaamber?

No sweats??? No jeans??? Do people really wear skirts or slacks every day? I don't think I've worn an outfit that doesn't contain an elastic waist band for years. Better get to shopping. Anyway, glad to hear the white scrubs are only for one hospital. I was already worried about what catastrophe would happen to me if I tempted the fates in an all white outfit.

eva you are hilarious... hahaha i freaked about the all-white leather shoes. my mom even was like, where on earth do you find such a thing??
Actually I spoke to current students and most of them do wear jeans to class.
no i know, but not ripped or with holes that came with the jeans.. everyone just looks really put together. no gym clothing attire.
bahahah my boyfriend was looking at shoes with me and he's like $80 for these ugly-ass shoes??

I *just* sent in my deposit. It was kind of humiliating because I didn't have any business envelopes, and all I could come up with was this package of paw print greeting card envelopes that I had bought at the 99cent store (for what reason I do not know, considering I am not even an animal person! they must have been on quadruple special sale or something...). Also it got a Hanukkah 2010 postage stamp. Hopefully the money and the "yes" check mark are all they look at .
I haven't looked at housing yet, but I'm coming out in April over my spring break to look at some places. My husband will probably move to TN the end of May, and I'll join him in June.
What about you Kate? Midwifery, right? Housing? Significant other coming with you?
where have you been looking?! i wonder if they really need to be all white. i volunteer at the children's hospital at Vandy and all of the nursing students that i see are wearing sneakers or those tone-up shoes, since they say they're super comfy if you're on your feet all day. i'm actually about to go in now, so maybe i can pull one aside and ask how strict they are about "all white leather". i'll keep you posted.
if there are any male nursing students out there, sorry for talking so much about shoes!!!

Yeah, I was getting a bit worried about not hearing anything after I sent the deposit in a couple of weeks ago, haha. Thanks for all of the info at the Open House that some of us had to miss =(. I've been looking up apartments online, but it's so hard to figure out what area to live in since I'm not sure what area is safe or anything since I've never been there.
I'm thinking of going in May sometime so I can get a feel for the area. I'm kind of excited that campus is right by downtown though! :)
Do you guys know how many students are accepted into each cohort?

avoid Antioch. Good areas: west end (expensive), hermitage, green hills, bellevue
@TGills and Kate. I currently live in Nashville 2 blocks from Vanderbilt medical center. I can definitely give you advice. Bellvue and Hermitage are quite far since there is a lot of traffic on those routes to get there.. especially Bellvue since you would need to travel down Hillsboro Pike for the majority of getting from Vanderbilt to Bellvue (reverse direction, you can hop on the 40, but it still takes a bit over 20 minutes without any traffic.. any trust me.. there is alwayssss traffic).
i would look in neighborhoods like sylvan park, 12 south, belmont, franklin, or brentwood if you're looking for something that is less expensive than green hills, west end, and hillsboro village area. sylvan park and 12 south are still within 2-5 miles from campus.
@TGills: have you not been to Nashville before? The location of Vanderbilt cannot be beat. on the weekends, I've never had to pay more than $5-6 for a cab ride into downtown. It is super accessible, and so much fun!
