Vanderbilt Nurse Residency 2014

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Yeah, I know... I'm waaaay ahead of time :) But I thought there might be some people planning ahead like me. I'm graduating in December and I thought some others might like to discuss what you are doing to help you get in! I have a 3.7, I'm doing a medical mission to Guatamala in May, attending the NSNA annual convention, and hopefully working at a special needs day camp over the summer. I know I need some volunteer hours, so I'm hoping to fit them in at the end of the summer and during next semester, and praying its enough. Anyone else? [Pediatrics BTW]

I applied for the Pediatric track! All I have left is to finish my letter of intent. Any suggestions on writing it?

I really want to be an Emergency Room Nurse, but I feel like it is really difficult to get one of those spots! Would I be better off choosing a more general track?

Anyone else have a minor freak out when they received the email from Tracey? The email began with the infamous words "We appreciate your interest in our program." LOL. Later the email went on to say that they are simply changing the start date from January 27, 2014 to February 10 in an effort to give as many residents as possible the opportunity to become licensed.

Can you give some advice for the interview? What kind of questions? Is it a panel of people? Is there more than one interview/phone interview? Anything would help!

Hi everyone,

I'm working on my letter of intent at the moment and then will finally be finished my application! I'm from PA but seriously looking to relocate and thought this was such an appealing program for many reasons. My GPA is a 3.64 but other than one summer of CNA work, my experience isn't too strong for the healthcare field. I graduated from an accelerated second degree program this summer so I'm hoping that is taken into consideration regarding my lack of work experience. The point system is a bit disheartening because I feel as though I will be lacking in the volunteer/work/leadership end. Oh well, I am applying and hoping for the best! Good luck to everyone!

I have NO work or leadership experience :( I did go to Guatemala over the summer and volunteer at a free pregnancy clinic (for one day...). My GPA is 3.67. I'm hoping that's enough, who knows? I'm about to finally submit my application and I'm sooo nervous. I just want to know. This semester is so busy and this application has been stressing me out!!

Anyone know when we are supposed to hear something? Do they only contact you if you are getting an interview?

What track are you applying for?

I think they let everyone know during the last week of September (on/after the 24th from previous threads). Whatever happens ama3t, I hope you have a wonderful final semester.

@itrust I applied for adult critical care. Seems pretty competitive from past threads, but decided to stick with my interest. What about you?
