Starting pay for new ADN graduate in Nashville

Hi guys, Im new to this forum and my question might have already been asked before. But i still want to ask you guys again. Do you know what is the starting pay for new ADN graduate in Nashville? and where is the good place to work? thanks alot! :)

You're looking at somewhere between $17-$21hr. Pretty much what they pay for new grads. If you work night shift 7p-7a you get a shift difference of a few dollars.

I don't like working in the hospitals so I can't really tell you which place is the best. I worked at Centennial for about a year and left. Floor nursing is not my thing. I can make better money and have less stress without the 12hr brutal shifts on the floors. JMO.

Wow...looks like new grads in nashville don't get paid as well as those in other states right? I also heard that the job market here is being congested nowadays. Guess what, as I read some statistics about the salary of RNs in Nashville, it showed that RNs make about 50->55K a year! Well, unfortunately, the reality of $17-$21/hr doesn't make it anywhere near the reference of those statistics!

You are right. I suppose if you have several years behind you and work in a specialty area you could make that much or more. But as a new grad you're not going to make that much around Nashville. If so.....I would really like to know where that is....maybe I'm not aware of it.

You may can work for an agency and get paid more. I worked for Maxim Staffing in Nashville and made more with them than I would have ever made floor nursing. I have always thought nurses were under paid for what we go through. I wish you all the best!

You have to take into consideration shift differentials. That is where the 50>55K may come from. :)

I can give some concrete numbers here. Vanderbilt's new grad pay was $18.25/hr, HOWEVER, they just passed a new budget that is making new grad pay $20.85 (I think...definitely twenty something.) To work at Vanderbilt you have to apply via the nurse residency program. The pay for a ADN/BSN is exactly the same (a nurse is a nurse is a nurse.) Shift diff is as follows:

7pm-11pm-$3.00/hr more

11pm-7am--$3.50/hr more

weekends--$6.00/hr more (this stacks with night diff, so a Sat night is work $9!)

Holidays (seven recognized major holidays) $5/hr more, plus you get 7.2hrs of PTO whether you work it or not. Vanderbilt also has a comprehensive benefits package (also new--starting Jan 1st (I think) you get medical insurance day of hire, instead of waiting 90 days.)

A lot of "topped out" nurses make much more, $30+/hr, and PRN nursing also makes more. (For example, I recently explored one temp agency in Nashville that offers $33/hr base for med-surg nurses, no benefits of course.)

I think Baptist/St Thomas start new grads at $17.??, but I don't work there, so I can't say for sure. HTH. Congrats on graduating!
