Loewenberg Nursing School

U.S.A. Tennessee

Well, I am looking at University of Memphis as another option for nursing school. The reason is because I really would like the BSN route because I am done with the general education requirement and some pre-reqs. Can anybody tell me how hard it is to get into Loewenberg?

I don't go to Memphis but I am apply too and they told me you have to have at least a 3.0 to be competitive but if you had like a 3.2, you pretty much will be a shoe in. Thats what the lady told me. I think you should be okay. are you applying anywhere else?

I wasn't really planning on applying anywhere else. I haven't heard good things about Baptist, I'm too young for Union's accelerated program, but I want a BSN so I think those three are my only options around Memphis. I'm really worried.

Yeah I am applying to Memphis, Baptist and southwest. I want a BSN too but if you go to southwest and get your ASN you can finish your BSN in a year. So if thats the easiest way then I'm fine with that. Baptist I've heard you have to wait for almost two years just to start clinicals!!

Yep, that's true about Baptist. I started there this semester with another degree, they only accepted 18 of my hours and won't let me in clinicals until Fall 2010. That's why I'm not staying there, there are two other programs (Union and UT- (direct entry msn) that I can be almost done with by the time I'd start clinicals at Baptist!

Wow!! fall 2010!~! thats a long time to wait! do you have to take classes the whole time? like if you don't have anything to take do you have to take BS classes or can you work till your clinicals come up. How long are clinicals? like two years?

Cingly,

I'm planning on applying to the U of Memphis Nursing program Spring '10. I was wondering do you have to have all the general eds. that are required for grad. completed in order to be accepted into the Nursing Program?

I have ALL the pre-reqs completed that are required for admission into the Nursing program with the exception of the psy or soc course and I am taking that in the Fall. However, I have about 3 general ed classes that did NOT transfer over and I know I have to take those in order for grad..Correct?

Do you suggest I take those in the Fall along with Soc? N Statistics??

I saw that you mentioned Stats in the previous post but I thought there was only one math required?

Please help!! :bluecry1: And Thanks in Advance! :D

I would try to get all of the gen eds done, with maybe the exception of stats, before you start nursing classes. The program is very demanding and the first semester you will not be able to take any extra classes. And I don't suggest it for any other semester either. If you are starting in the spring, however, you may be able to take a few classes in the summer (such as statistics and a gen ed). You'll have to contact the nursing school to be sure, but I think most people had all of their gen-ed courses completed before nursing classes started. You just don't have time for them. There is no good semester to take extra classes. I would just bite the bullet and take everything this fall, be done with it, and concentrate on nursing. Plus, you will look like a better candidate to them if you already have everything done. Hope that helps! PM me if you have any more specific questions.

Oh, and a word of advice - take general psychology, not sociology. It it is better in the long run for grad school.

Yeah it's makes a lot of sense now to just go ahead and get all of those out the way! THNKS!! :D

PS...And I will consider that word of advice!

Now that I've thought about it a bit I think you have to have all of them done anyway except for stats. They might make exceptions, but they try not to make a habit of it. I wouldn't want to use up my get out of jail free card on that! Good luck! I hope you get in!!!:yeah:

THANKS!!!!!!! Hope I do too!!! :D
