Lipscomb vs. Belmont

U.S.A. Tennessee

Considering which BSN program to aim for as I take prerequisites at community college.

I have about 60% of my pre-reqs from 12 years ago when I left college to be a mother. Some things have now expired, and some requirements are different. I can probably finish out the remainder of classes this summer and fall.

TSU and MTSU are similar enough that I might be able to apply to both with nearly the same pre-reqs, and I think I have read enough posts here to compare them well and choose between them.

Belmont and Lipscomb are certainly higher in cost and seem to have fewer students represented on allnurses.com. But, from their websites, it seems that their pre-reqs are similar. It also appears that competition to get into their programs is lower- which may really benefit me unless I declare Fresh Start (some of my old college grades from when I was a teenager are lower than I'd like). I would welcome some input comparing their programs. Advantages to grad school acceptance, hiring, test scores, or faculty with either program?

I am at a fork in the road, though. From what I can tell, there is no situation where I might complete prerequisites and send application out for BSN programs with TSU, MTSU, Belmont, and Lipscomb and simply see where I am accepted. Am I right?

Are there any other BSN programs in the Nashville area that I am missing?

Hi, I am in Nashville as well and decided to go back to school last year (I'm 39) for BSN in nursing. After much research and comparison I am in what is called a "transfer pathway" program with Nashville State Comm College and Belmont's nursing program. You should check into it. It allows one to get all pre req's completed at NSCC and then transfer to Belmont for an accelerated BSN. It's a state implemented program between a few select comm colleges and a few select four year colleges. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help. Good luck!:)

Lipscomb University has a very new nursing program that is showing very low NCLEX pass rates. The nursing faculty has no prior teaching experience, barely any nursing experience, and are arrogant. The leadership has never held a nursing leadership position before. Belmont has years of proven nurses they have produced. If you had to choose between Belmont or Lipscomb, choose belmont.
