My sis who is a critical care RN will probably apply to a Telephony Nurse position. We were both curious if anyone knew what Telephony Nurses make? I work in ICU/CCU as well but not ready to leave the bedside yet. She's been a night shifter and wants to work days but away from the day shift bedside.

Specializes in Telephone triage, hospice, LTC, CCU, ,.

you can expect about a 20% less then floor nurses.

I make more than I made in ICU. I get paid 4.25 per phone call and have 6-10 calls per hour. A call to a physician is also 4.25. An rx or an appt is half of that. During the summer however, I will get only 4-6 calls per hour.

I made the same pay as I made in the hospital however the telephonic job was through the same hospital. I also recieved the same differential also.

When I moved into another position that was not hospital based I did take a small pay cut, no differential but no evenings,no weekends, no holidays.

Wow. How do you find a telephone triage job with no nights, weekends, or holidays?

insurance company, used to do telephone triage now its disease management, i do work one evening until 7pm

our company pays 22.00/hr to 25.00/ hr to start, with up to 1.00 differential for off shifts and weekends. What else is out there? Like anything else, it depends on the average pay in the area. We are in upstate NY..Rochester area.

I worked in a hospital based triage service making more than 30 an hour plus 3 diff for evenings and 6 diff for weekends. This was from working 20 years as a nurse and my pay increasing over the years. I am from the Midwest. Now am working in a similiar field in a salary position which is around my per hour pay.
