Who's taken the teas v?

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

And what did you think? I took it last week and feel like I was prepared for the Math and Reading portions by using the study guide but I really struggled with the Science portion. For me it was a lot of Chemistry and it's been a while since I've taken that course. I met the minimum requirements in each category for my program but it's the first year they're using the TEAS V (Last year they used the NET) so I'm not really sure what a competitive score is yet. Anyway I know there are different entrance tests and versions of the TEAS everyone is taking so I was just wondering how people felt about version V.

@tina_grewal: i have yet to take the TEAS V on Wednesday, next week. online resources include:

Balancing Chemical equations: http://chemistry.about.com/cs/stoichiometry/a/aa042903a.htm

http://www.sky-web.net/science/balancing_chemical_equations.htm

Human Science Systems:

http://glencoe.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0078778182/student_view0/chapter1/

i find their online tests very helpful in the realization of some topics not covered in the TEAS V study guide. i've likewise added another supplementary study guide from our local library with quizzes built-in:

Learning Express, Complete Test Preparation, Nursing School Entrance Exam

2nd Ed. 2009

ISBN 13:978-1-57685-705-2

it also imparts a "test preparation" system like making educated guesses, stress management, making a study plan, and learning styles. love it! :yelclap:

hope this helps and God bless all of us!

Thanks a lot. I will check out these links. Good luck for ur test.

@tina_grewal: thanks! :) u, too!

Hello. I didn't do very well on my 1st try on the TEAS V test. Before I took the test, I've only reviewed through the TEAS V manual and nothing else. Now I am reviewing through the TEAS V manual and the Mcgraw Hill. For those who have retaken the test, was the test the same as the 1st time you took it?

Thanks

For all those who has taken the teas V and used the study guide along with the online pretest through ATI.

1. What is the real exam like in comparision to the questions in the book and or comparision with the online tests.

2. If you have taken the test before and retook the exam were they the similiar same set of questions.

3.I purchased the online test and personally seem really different in comparision to the study manual questions.

What feedback can you give me that helps to understand the test better.

Greatly appreciate all feedback:confused:

The teas v study guide from ati is almost exactly like the teas . If you study the guide you will do great! Every topic is covered in the guide. I bought the study guide but foolishly didn't use it and scored a 73 overall my first try. I scored in the high 80s and low 90s on everything except science, which I scored a 54. I had only half a semester in A&P I though. I am going to take it again next week.

Emmy P have you looked at the science section and compared it to the test. I am reading mixed results. ATI said to me we write the test and the book and they are both the same. Can you shed some light specifically on the science section. I will be taking my exam next week to start in July. Thank you for your feedback and best of luck on your exam also.:)

In my experience yes! Each topic that is in the science section was on my test. Obvisously it is not the exact same questions. Same topics, different question! I would make sure you know all 11 organ systems! Each exam has one system highlighted with questions. Also I had a lot of questions on the parts of a cell and their jobs. Know how to balance chemistry equations. You dont need to memorize the periodic table like some people have said. They provide one for you. Do know what the numbers mean in an elements box in the table. Know the different types of chemical bonds ( covalent, ionic etc.) the science section is what gets everybody I think. I'm sure you will do great! Take your time! And if you don't know just guess! Best to luck to you! Let us know how it goes!

I just took the TEAS last week. I also thought the science section was the most difficult. The study guide was not that helpful for that section, IMO. I mean yes, there is a very quick review of each organ system, but not in NEARLY enough detail. For example, I got a question about the function of ear wax!!! That one was not so hard to figure out, but it is an example of the level of detail on some of the questions. It is interesting, reading through this thread, I could tell that I had many of the same questions that other people had back in January. I wonder how many versions of the test there are.

I will be taking the test next week. Looking through this site at Candice83 list of study hints does this seem pretty accurate. Which test did you take there are two forms an A and B. Who on this site seems to have been the most accurate to help me in my studies.

I am taking teas 5 tomorrow June 22, 2011. I have been studying the manual and taking the practice tests in the manual (have not bought the online tests). I am very nervous, as I have been out of school for 20+ years. From what I have been reading on this site, the science section sounds difficult. Any last minute advice from someone who has taken teas 5 recently would be greatly appreciated!! (Is it more or less one organ system with detailed questions?)

I truly hope you passed with the score that you needed. I am taking the test Monday and have been out of school over 20 yrs and very nervous. Please share your experience I could use the insight. If you don't want to talk on hear you can email me [email protected] I would really like to talk to someone who has been through the exam experience.
