I have taken the TEAS V twice so far and have scored the same for each test, around a 70. I've been studying the material for at least 2 hours a day for the past 3.5 months. The first time I took the test, I had no idea what to expect and scored a 65. I studied the areas recommended by ATI test, retook the test today and BOMBED!!! I got a 70. I hear ATI is coming out with a version 6 at the end of August which allows you to use a calculator for the math portion. One major challenge for me is completing the math within the allotted time. I'm not sure what else I can do to score higher. I need at least an 80. Any suggestions? Thanks! :)

is it a fact that they will def allow calculators???

Yes, the website states they'll allow a calculator. But im assume there it will be a bit more harder math portion questions than there are now. They'd want to see if you can solve the problem instead of how fast you can punch in 2+2=4. You said you studied what the book told you too, is it just math? If so (or not this could work in other exam questions) Google math problem worksheets (make sure they have the answers) and strengthen your math skills. If you're not sure how to work a problem you can google or YouTube it and work alongside it so you can understand it better.

Helpful studying tip for those that want to study on the go, without the bulk of the book or flashcards:

I just came up with this minuets ago....This is for the commonly misspelled words section.

Record yourself saying the words on your phone. Grab a pen, a piece of paper and some headphones. Don't overlook this part unless your a spelling bee champ!!!

If you are unsure of the spelling make sure you either have a picture of the page in your phone or you can look up the words as you go along.

I haven't taken the TEAS yet, so I'm not the best judge on what you should do. What I am doing to study is taking different practice tests over and over. The TEAS study manual, TEAS A and B practice tests from ATI site, and any TEAS practice free test online. If I get something wrong, I flag it in the study manual in what section it is in and review it. The majority of what is covered should be review as it should have been covered in your prereq's.

I would also not hope that the math section is going to be easier for you even if they allow calculators. From what I've heard (may not be true) is that they have reworked the math section so a calculate will be less helpful. Also, the test is primarily for Teas V numbers and operations with 4 algebra, and now it's changing to have 19 algebra.

To get quicker at the math, I feel it's really just doing problems over and over again. The more you do the quicker you will get at doing it. If you're in the mindset that oh I will have a calculator, I feel you are setting yourself up for failure. Focus on learning, or relearning the information to where you are struggling and doing them over and over until you can get through the practice tests in half the time that is allotted.
