How long do you have to wait to retake the Teas?

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hi everyone

So I just decided to apply to Nursing school. I have a BS in biology already and am applying for the ABSN and FNP program at Samuel Merritt. They require you to take the Teas exam, which I am studying for currently. However, apps are due in January and I was planning on taking it in August. I know you are allowed to take it twice in one application cycle, but how long you do you have to wait to retake it??? I kinda want to take it now and see where I need to improve.

My science is somewhat strong, and I am getting better at the math. I've been studying the Kaplan nursing school exam books, but I think it is designed after the NET. Samuel Merritt requires a 89% on the reading and a 79% on the math. So I'm really trying to shoot for the high 80's. Please help!

I currently go to WCCC in Michigan, and I know they allow 3 tries. Good luck!

At Ivy Tech in Indiana we are allowed to take it 3 times and you must wait at least 30 days between each test.

I'm sorry...I didn't say how long in-between. You have to wait 90 days between tests.

The best study manuals you can buy are from the same people who make the test. You can go to the ATI website and buy study manuals. You can also have them rushed if needed. I bought mine from ATI and scored a 96 percent on my TEAS test. I went through the manual in a few days and worked on any weak points I encountered. I also have a bachelor's degree in biology and needed to brush up on my math. Although I found I needed to brush up on my punctuation and sentence structure as well. Never been my strong point. Make sure you buy the right version manual. Call the school first. Good Luck!

Sorry, forgot to post the link to the ATI TEAS site......

Thanks!!! that was very helpful!!!

Do schools normally take the latest test score or the highest score of all previous TEAS tests you may have taken?

Where did you get your info for the minimum required test scores for SMU? Their TEAS requirement is Adjusted Individual Score (74.7%), Reading (87.5%), and Math (68.9%). Its stated here: Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Admission Requirements | Samuel Merritt University

Hey! I am about to take my TEAS exam -- November 2010. What manual did you purchase? Also, what did you find the most challenging on this exam? Thanks!
