I've spent a bit of time scanning this board and taking in lots of good info. I ran across a post about the UAB Jackson program. I looked at UAB's website but haven't uncovered anything about Jackson, MS. Can anyone tell me about this as Jackson is very close to me and all other programs are quite a distance. Thank you so much.

Mississippi has no CRNA school so they pilot through UAB, do didactics in Birmingham and clinicals in UMC-Jackson, MS. In state for MS residents.

How long does it take to do didactics? I'm not a MS resident, live in NE La, so I will have out of state fees. Otherwise, Baton Rouge and NO would be closest to home for me, Jackson is much closer. Thanks mrmike!

UAB is 70% front loaded. You would have to be in Bham from August until end of May. Rotations start in late may/early june. From there, the classes are all through web-based distance learning.

I am almost finished with the didactic portion now. Very pleased thus far with the program.

Thanks for the response and congradulations on your progress. Basic question, what is a "front loaded program"?

100% front loaded means that your are completely finished with the coursework (didactic) before you matriculate into the clinical setting. Any percentrage front loaded is the percentage of the didactic program that you complete before matriculating. Then there is the fully blended program that will begin clinical rotations almost on the first day of class.

UAB is a partially front loaded program, I would say 70-80% (although I have heard 65%). All that we will be taking after we start our rotations is pretty much the special populations classes and one more patho.

A CRNA pal of mine finished the UAB to UMC/Jackson program about 2yrs ago. He said he really liked the fact that he could finish up in Jackson. Again I don't want to hijack the thread, but has anyone applied to the Ut-Chat and NMMC/Tupelo program?

When I was still in nursing school and doing my preceptorship, my preceptor was accepted to the NMMC/UT-Chat program. She was working in the SICU at NMMC at the time (couldn't have hurt)!
