Hey All,

I'm one of those people that require about 9 hrs of sleep to not be a walking zombie all day long. The thing that would scare me most about CRNA school is not so much the intensity but the intensity combined w/ being sleepy. I feel that if I don't get enough sleep I just can't focus...at all. Did anybody else feel like this when they started CRNA school & did you cope well? Some people tell me that you just train your body in situations like that after a while. I dunno, i have really bad sleeping & eating habits so perhaps if I tried to change them during the YEARS left before I can even truly consider becoming a crna then that would make a difference.

2. Melatonin!

I can't say enough about how well melatonin aides in falling asleep, staying asleep, getting DEEP REM sleep, and reseting your biological clock. The stuff is a miracle...

i would encourage all to be careful about using this.

as a supplement, it has not been approved by the FDA, not determined safe in the long-term use, and dosages are easily over the therapeutic dose (effective is 0.3mg/day - most supplements have around 10mg!!)

some studies have shown that insomnia, sleep disorders r/t shift work or jet lag, etc... are mildly to moderately aided with melatonin, but no clinical trials show resolute/concrete results that prove "beneficial" to people.

I would agree the best prescription for a healthy body is simply broken down into sleep, diet and exercise. A few months ago I started getting up at 4:30 AM and exercising before work. I plan on maintaing the regimen during school. It is the best way to wake up and release some stress and get your metabolism going.

Has anyone successfully any nite time sleep aids, Lunesta?, Ambien?, AMbien CR?

Just curious?

My doctor told me no not have any caffienated drinks with or after dinner. HAAAAAA. Hard to do when you are falling asleep at the dinner table. I did try it and i did see a significant improvement in my sleep.
