This sounds kind of stupid but I am planning on shadowing a CRNA and I was wondering if there is any etiquette while shadowing I should keep in mind?

Thanks in advance,

J

Just be professional. I have shadowed in the past, and I felt very relaxed. The CRNA I followed was very welcoming and willing to answer any and all of my questions. I shadowed at The Cleveland Clinic, and they are very CRNA friendly (which helps). Good luck. Hope you have a great experience.:D

What kind of questions are appropriate during the shadowing process?

Legal stuff?

What it takes to get in to school?

What it takes to stay in school?

Pathophisiology type of questions?

What to expect in the interview?

CRNA, MD, or AA type of questions?

Things we should be studying to prepare for the interview/program?

What qualities should we look for in a CRNA program?

or should the questions be patient care driven and stay in the moment?

Any pointers or suggestions?

JD

jdiekhof ,

Any and all of those would be find to talk about. However, I would feel out the situation first. It depends on what kind of surgeries you are in on. The first time I shadowed, I was in on some pretty easy cases, and the CRNA was more than willing to answer my questions. But, if you are in on a more complicated surgery (neuo/cardiac), they may not want to talk about anything but the case. You'll know when you get there. Good luck!:)
