Myers-Briggs Personality Type & CRNA's

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello,

This board is very informative and helpful--thanks to everyone for making it so interesting.

I'm curious as to Myers-Briggs Personality Types and CRNA's. The MB indicator identifies individuals as either introverted or extroverted and Sensing or Intuitive types. Myers-Briggs has 16 personality types such as ISTJ's, which stands for Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging and ENFP, which stands for Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceptive. The other introverted types are ISFJ, ISTP, ISFP, INFJ, INTJ, INFP, INTP. The remaining extroverted types are: ESTP, ESFP, ESTJ, ESFJ, ENTP, ENFJ, and ENTJ.

My question is what is your MB personality type (if you know it--or want to take a guess) and do you thiink there are certain personality types that are more suited towards the work of being a successful CRNA?

Thanks :) Stephanie

I'm an ISFJ. I never thought much about it before, but it seems to suit me. I can be extroverted sometimes, it just depends on the situation.

Specializes in MICU, CVICU.

I'm an S2 student and we took the Keirsey sorter the first week in my management class. Mine totally fits me, and it's also the same as my dad.

Specializes in Nursing assistant.
ENTJ here, however when retested was smack midline 50% E 50% I... so I wonder... if you score more midline rather than one extreme to the other, is that well-rounded?:D

I took mine a long time ago and was ENTP. The E was so high it was scary. The others were towards the middle like yours. I have also wondered about the extremes vs the close ones also. From what I have see in these post, I also wonder if nursing is suitable with my temperment.

Introversion simply means you draw energy from your inner world. Extraversion means you draw energy from others.

It doesn't necessarily mean one is quiet, or loud, or talkative. ;)

INFP I have tested this way more than once so I guess I'm at least consistant.

INFP...I represent 1% of the population :) :)

We are very unique people. :rotfl:

My adult son and daughter tested inpf also. They are very creative.

woo hoo! I'm INFP too . Although I'm half E and half I.

Specializes in Inpatient Psychiatric, Medical.

I'm ISTJ - "The Reliant". My wife is ESFJ "The Helper".

I'm just a student at the moment, working on prerequisite courses (2 years) before I can gain entry into the nursing program at our local college. If all goes well, I will end up with a BNA (after 5 years!).
