I also think this program will be fun! Challenging obviously but also fun!! We need to remind each other that we said this when we want to pull our hair out from stress!! :)

I would love to have a casual get together before we all get down to the nitty gritty. I'm coming from Wisconsin so my transition will not be as far as some of you but like everyone, I'm looking forward to it and getting started! Can't wait to meet everyone!! :)

I wish I'd seen this conversation sooner! It would have made the interview a lot less intimidating going in. Can't wait to meet you all! I agree we should all get together sometime!!

I know this is probably a different question than most of you have received, but i need to ask it. I am currently going to school for my BSN. First I am getting my ADN and then going to a University to get my BSN. I am not so much worried about GPA as much as getting work in an ICU. If any of you could explain how you were able to get a job in a ICU, it would help me out a lot. All hospitals around me only hire people with ICU experience, so how then do you get in? Thank you

I assume you'll be working as a RN while working on your BSN. During that year or so, get to know people at your hospital. Meet managers of the various ICUs and let them know that you want to get into the ICU and that you are working on your BSN. Plus, the year of RN exp. will help. As far as GPA goes, they DO look at that and take that seriously. Since you're in school, you can do something about it now, so shoot for 4.0.

Seansanf120,

Hello, hope you're doing well. I am trying to research MSA and I stumbled upon your posts. I was wondering how you liked the school, and if you would reccommend it to aspiring SRNAs? (I'm sorry to post it onto here, but I cannot figure out how to PM on this website.) thanks!

MSA is a great program. You start the end of August and by the beginning of November you are in the OR which is a huge benefit over other programs. You get tons of OR experience and get way over the required amount of cases/ OR time. You also get to do most of your clinicals (besides 6 weeks total of rural clinical) within the twin cities so not as much travel as some of the other programs. I've talked to many graduates of MSA and they felt very well prepared starting their jobs as new grads. They also prepare you very well for the boards and have a lot of review built into the program.

Hey all just found out I got into MSA starting this fall '14. Anyone else get in feel let me know! I am just trying to find other people I am going to be in school with!

Me too! I'm excited to start this fall! I'm surprised there hasn't been a single other person to comment about getting into MSA this fall. I guess we will have to wait and see.

It's been almost 3 years. Did you all end up attending/graduating? I wasn't able to find recent posts. How did it go..

Specializes in HIM.

I’m especially interested in seansanf120’s response, but for those with a lower GPA (3.45-3.5) who were waitlisted, do applicants get further consideration with repeated applications?
