I have just applied to USC, SC CRNA porgram

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

I have just applied to USC, CRNA program and is wondering if anyone has any information on the program. I have a 910 on my GRE, gpa 3.5, 6yrs PICU experience and have been in the Adult ICU float pool for the last 5 months and am planning on taking my CCRN in a couple of months. Is this good enough to get in.

Cutter,

Yes, I am within commuting distance to the Columbia campus. I would be willing to drive to Greenville, but it wouldn't be my preference. I am not quite sure how students are chosen for the two locations. That is part of what prompted my question. I knew I didn't remember there being any place in the application to designate which campus you were applying for. I was trying to figure out if there was something I'd missed. Thanks for the info. Best wishes on your interview.

Eric,

That is very helpful information. Thank you and good luck with boards!

Out of curiosity, how long do students typically prepare before sitting for the board exam after completion of the program? You finished the program a couple of months ago, correct?

Thanks again!

Thanks Eric for the great info and Cutter2 for the post. I will be there on the 19th as well. I'm sooo nervous, but ready to do it. I would prefer Columbia as well but I don't know how the decide who goes where....

I have my interview in 2 days. It is so nice to read "the interview is low stress so don't freak out about it." I swear I keep reading this thread over and over again!!!!

Chesterton, How are you feeling about the interview? It wasn't my best interview but not terrible overall. I thought the set up was pretty good and everyone there that day seemed like strong candidates. So I guess we'll know soon enough. Was suprised by the clinical component but nothing unreasonable was asked.

Good luck to you seems like an outstanding program.

Eric, good luck on boards I'm sure you'll be fine, thanks again for the info on the program.

Cutter2,I agee! I don't feel like I knocked it out of the park, but didn't think I bombed it either. Also agree that the candidate pool seems strong. I heard rumors that they might be making some changes to the format, so I wasn't completely surprised that we got some clinical questions. Seems like they changed quite a bit this year. The long wait has been difficult.Let me know if you hear something and I will do the same. Good luck.

Anyone heard anything yet? I interviewed on June 5. I was just wondering if anyone knew how and when they were contacting people this year. Good luck to everyone!

Emails went out Friday, June 22, for those who have been accepted or are on the alternate list.

Thanks for the update. Sucks for me I guess.

The interview was surreal. My first went okay but the second I didn't know how I did. It was the longest 30 min of my life. I don't know how many they accepted, but they had a wide range of backgrounds.

ICUnurselovely,

Thats a step in the right direction, if not this year you should be good to go next year. I was there the same day as you (bald guy:) I know I need to work on my interviewing and experience ( or at least articulating it) but going through that interview was educational at least. A bit of a downer, but honored to get an interview anyway. Best of luck
