ICUnurselovely, Thats a step in the right direction, if not this year you should be good to go next year. I was there the same day as you (bald guy:) I know I need to work on my interviewing and experience ( or at least articulating it) but going through that interview was educational at least. A bit of a downer, but honored to get an interview anyway. Best of luck

Chesterton, How are you feeling about the interview? It wasn't my best interview but not terrible overall. I thought the set up was pretty good and everyone there that day seemed like strong candidates. So I guess we'll know soon enough. Was suprised by the clinical component but nothing unreasonable was asked. Good luck to you seems like an outstanding program. Eric, good luck on boards I'm sure you'll be fine, thanks again for the info on the program.

Sorry it is so frustrating, I am a recent new grad, who worked in a large facility while in school, networked well, graduated head of the class (BSN) and it still took 4 months to get a position after boards. Many in my class were out of work 6-9 months out. The economy has kept many older nurses from retiring or their SO lost there job so they came back to work with experience. In the Midwest where I am there is a glutton of Nursing programs. So the shortage has evaporated apparently in a lot of places. You may try more rural less populated areas even northern prairie states ( which I happen to like). The reason facilities don't want to train new grads is that the 1st year is rough no matter where you start, something like 50% of new grads are broke and take every second of overtime they can get then burn out hate nursing and leave forever in that first year. Find an extended residency or internship to support you through that first year. This non-shortage will swing back sometime probbaly with the economy so hang in there if its your calling. If you are in it for the money (which ain't all that considering, I still love it. ) maybe try another career. The military is great experience, loan repayment in nursing and your an Officer, just a thought good luck.

Chesterton, I received my invite on 5/11, I am actually would prefer Columbia area was just curious how the separate cohorts functioned, I hadn't considered a split cohort scenario and was trying to look at some logistics (ie. schools and hospitals for the wife and kids). Are you local to SC area or planning to relocate? I'm in Ohio currently but have some family in Carolinas. Good luck to you also. Eric, Appreciate the info and endorsement of program. I am interviewing on June 19, I appreciate the information you provided about the program. I am going to be out-of-state and relocating my family, so trying to determine if the program is worth the added expense. Are there any stipends available or anesthesia groups sponsoring SRNA in that area. How do the didactics work for those in Greenville? do they travel to Columbia, Video Conference or just separate traditional style course.

JC really appreciate the mini pep talk, very glad to be invited to interview on 17th. That in itself is a big compliment and I am trying to maintain some perspective through this process. I have been watching this boad since you were applying so congrats on your accomplishments, I hope to be following along soon. I am driving down on the 16th too see some friends in Nashville and check out the area a bit. I heard Medina Schools are very good, any thoughts or other decent public schools? I have a 4th & 6th grader and that would really help me narrow my wandering around town:) Good schools will be a big consideration in this decision. THX
