How do I find out if any schools are trying to gain accredidation?

Ok, this must seem like a silly question, but you can easily find out information about new schools that are trying to gain accredidation for nursing programs, is this information available for CRNA programs? I went to the AANA website and can only find current schools. Like I said sounds like a silly question but where I live there are not any schools within 100 miles and I am not willing to relocated. I heard through the grapevine that UMASS was interested in starting a program either in Worcester or Amherst, MA which are both close to my home. I don't think I can just call the schools and get this information so is there a place where you can see schools that have applied for review? I have 2+ years before I would possibly attend such a program but as much as I want to be a CRNA moving is out of the question 100% so I have been thinking about other avenues that might interest me just as much, then I heard this and I got really excited. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I don't see why you can't call the school directly. I'm sure they want to know that there are prospective students interested.

Sure you can call the schools. Call the graduate nursing schools, and I'm sure they would be glad to tell you. I heard that a school near Columbus, OH was going to be starting a CRNA program. I called them directly to find out, they were very nice in telling me "NO". No better place to hear it from than the "horses mouth". Good Luck!!!:clown:

Also browse through the school websites or search their websites. I found a school in the process of accreditation by seeing a formal announcement on the school of nursing's website. Otherwise, I would call. In my case, they would only state that they were seeking accreditation... they couldn't even give me an estimate of when the program would begin, if successful. That was a year ago and they still say the same thing today...
