Bioinformatics to raise GPA

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hello everybody,

I want to express my appreciation to all of you who provide excellent information for everyone to share. I will try to keep this short and sweet.

I am currently serving active duty in the army and have decided nurse anesthesia interests me. Unfortunately my undergrad is poor at a 2.48cu, 2.75sci in exercise science. Also unfortunately, I have no way of getting into the medical side of the army as I dropped myself from a selection process and am being sent to the needs of the army. The army will not allow me to use their tuition's assistance program for any bachelor's degree including an accelerated BSN and my GPA isn't good enough for direct entry MSNs not that I'd be able to do that since I need online.

My question is, what other master's degrees would you suggest I get? More specifically, how do you feel about a degree in bioinformatics? I'm also interested in the world of computer science, but because bioinformatics degrees don't include hard science classes I feel that this would not further my pursuit of nurse anesthesia.

Thank you so much for any and all input!!

Not really helpful to get you to CRNA. No hard sciences and doesn't get you RN.

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

Sounds like you need to wait until your enlistment is up and then pursue an undergraduate nursing degree. First steps first and all.
