Albany Medical College - Summer 17

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Just wondering who else has interviewed for Albany Med's program for 2017. I received a spot in the program and am hoping to touch base with some fellow future students.

Congrats!!

I interviewed in June for 2016 admission but did not get in. They suggested I take a class at Barry bc my GRE scores were not the greatest and apply again for next year. Hopefully I will be joining you.

I used magoosh online for like two months with a manhattan prep book to supplement what I was reviewing and got a 152v/153a/4writing. It really helped me a lot with studying and tips to remember. I would check those out if you haven't yet. Hopefully I'll see you in August next year!!

Thanks!

When did you apply?

What type of expierence do you have? If you don't mind me asking

I worked two years SICU, now in a cath lab for a year (moved with my wife and the schedule and hours was perfect for me), year of floor nursing to start out. I am from Albany and will be returning back for the program

edit: I applied officially in August but was missing some forms from my application. The program was incredibly helpful and nice about helping me get my completed documents in.

Congratulations! That's so exciting! I'll be interviewing soon and am super nervous!! How'd yours go? Do you have any tips? I didn't know they were accepting people so soon! How long after your interview did you get accepted?

My interview went well. The only thing that I can really speak of that was challenging was the exam prior to the interview. It's more of a CCRN questionnaire. If you have your CCRN and review/study before the cam you should be ok. The interviewees were fantastic and really sold the program for me. They were professional and honest and really hit home that they look out for the students and want everyone to succeed, not like some programs who want your money and are cut-throat. I heard back within two weeks of my interview. I wish you luck!

Wow, that's great! And the two week turn around time is amazing. Thanks for the response, I'm now definitely a lot more excited and a little less nervous :). I'll be interviewing at the end of November but I'll definitely update after :)

Timboner, were you at the afternoon interview at Columbia yesterday? I think I met you lol. Are you set on Albany or still looking around for other programs?

I can neither confirm or deny I was at said interview. I'm very happy with Albany at this point in my interviewing process. I have a couple more places to hear back. Who were you yesterday? I didn't see a Gizmo in the interview í ½í¸ƒ

Lol we actually didn't talk but I peiced it together from the introductions we gave. You probably wouldn't remember me lol. But who knows, we may see each other this time next year! Fingers crossed! I only applied to Columbia and Albany and have interviews at both. I don't feel too great about my Columbia interview so I'm hoping Albany works out!

Albany was much different than the Columbia interview. They interviewed us one by one in their own private offices, not in a panel setting. It was extremely laid back, no intimidating questions or interviewers who were stone-cold in appearance. You will do fine. I am still curious as to who you are though! Where were you sitting??
