9 years OR experience, 2years CTICU/SICU/MICU mix, GPA 3.93, GRE 1140. It only takes the basics to get the interview. At the interview, what counts most is DESIRE. Show them how bad you want it and why. Everyone there is smart, stand out by showing them that this means everything to you!

Overall GPA 3.18ish. My gpa for my first degree earned in 91 was 2.27. I pulled it up to my current overall GPA with a 3.87 in respiratory school and a 3.97 in nursing school. GRE 1240 with a 4.5 verbal. 20 months in cardiothoracic surgical recovery unit. Ten years as a RRT in four different hospitals working mostly in CVICUs. All major bio, pharm and phys classes were A's. They will most definitely look at you recent performance and major science and math grades, and a solid gre score will always help.

ICU.traveler,
I am so happy to hear your stats! I have almost 15 years nrsg. experience, last 6 in SICU, CCRN, TNCC, ACLS, PALS, shadowed over 5 times at area hospitals and have repeated multiple courses due to a low undergrad. gpa. My cumulative gpa for repeated courses is near a 3.5 while my undergrad. gpa previously was 2.6. I am hoping that my past mistakes as an immature student will not prevent me from getting in now that I am older and wiser.

Thanks for the inspiration, I am determined to get in and pursue this awesome career!

I know you wrote this a year ago but I was wondering how you liked Penn. I was just accepted and wanted to talk to a current student to see how they felt about it. Thanks!
