Univ. of New Mexico FNP program

Nursing Students NP Students

Hi there -

Wondering if anyone has attended the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque) FNP program, or completed another track of the MSN through UNM?

I've seen several threads about the undergrad program, but can't seem to find anyone who has experience as a graduate student at UNM. I'm interested in knowing your impression of the program, how well you were prepared for certification exams, quality of clinical sites, etc. Thanks!

I know several grads of the UNM program, they have all done fine on the boards and had good transitions from student to practitioner. I believe they assist the students in finding preceptor sites. I believe they have sites, mostly in the ABQ and nearby area, but several were able to coordinate between UNM and a local clinic in my town so I think they are open to coordinating with sites that students prefer.

I went to UNM for my BSN a LONG time ago. I have many friends that have gone their for their FNP and felt that it was very good. They do provide clinical sites for you. However, if you are in a rural area they will try to accommodate you if possible.

University Hospital is a great place to learn as it is the hospital that the medical school uses. I think you would have a wonderful learning experience at my alumni!

thanks so much to both of you!!
