For NPs in Massachusetts, what is the market like for new FNPs? I've searched for jobs online and there are not many I could find. Is part time work readily available? How is pay? I'm trying to make a final decision to pursue my FNP, but wonder if it is financially and timewise a good decision.

I was previously making 80k working 4 days/wk doing more administrative RN work. I'm looking to get back to working with patients, but wonder if how the job market is and if it makes sense financially. It's such a big commitment (3 years, part time) and I'm trying to make the right choice for me. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Well, i can't say that the market is that great. It seems the city is especially saturated. I looked for over a year but I wanted to work in a hospital or an outpatient office of one and even being an RN with experience it took so.long. for someone to just give me a chance. Places like BI Deac led me on and on...

Part time jobs are pretty hard to come by and salary is based on your years of RN exp but is probably equal to your RN salary or a couple dollars higher an hour. Bummer.

Much of it will depend on what program you attend. Most of the good programs have a near 100% employment rate in the first six months.

Most new NPs are getting offers for 85-105k/yr with the vast majority being right around 90k (including retail health).
