Halfway Semester 1 Study Hacks - Follow Me Through Grad School Episode 107

I can't believe that I'm half way through my first semester of graduate school! I've been so focused on completing all my assignments, while simultaneously trying to keep my head above water. It feels like once I'm done with one exam there's another exam to prepare for.

In this weeks vlog I decided to share 5 study hacks that I have used throughout this semester.

Some highlights include

Study Hack #1: Dictate your notes and/or papers to your computer - (MAC Computer Dictation Instructions)

  1. Go to System Preferences (looks like a cogwheel)
  2. Dictation Speech
  3. Choose which language you'll be dictating in
  4. Open whatever program (or text box) you would like to dictate in and voila!

OR

  1. Press function (fn) button twice to turn on dictation function
  2. Open whichever program (or text box) you would like to dictate in PC Computer Dictation Instructions
  3. Press the Start Button (looks like the Microsoft emblem)
  4. Choose All Programs
  5. Then Accessories
  6. Next Ease of Access
  7. Click Microphone
  8. Open whatever program (or text box) you would like to dictate in and that's it!

Study Hack #2: Make weekly comprehensive documents.

Check!

Study Hack #3: Listen to lectures on the go.

Simmons College has the 2SN App that enable their students to download lectures onto their computers or mobile devices. Check if your school provides a similar service

Study Hack #4: Join a study group.

It's better when students pool their knowledge and resources.

Study Hack #5: Be honest with yourself.

If you need help with the study material, be honest with yourself. Don't wait until it's too late.

Listing to lectures on the go is a great study hack especially with how easy it is now because of smartphones! You can get your cardio in and get your learn on! :yes:

To build on top of that, I started using Microsoft "Office Lens" and "OneNote" to snap pics of the whiteboards from lectures as well. I think it is available for both andriod and apple. I find that listing to lectures and reviewing the whiteboards within 24 increases my retention.
