Hey all,

Just wanted to know who is considering going to Duke for their FNP next fall. I know it's still early to apply, but the deadline is just around the corner.

I am looking seriously at Duke but just started researching there. I was thinking of East Carolina and what I have been planning for but they no longer have masters for FNP must go for DNP. Are you thinkging of applying for MSN for FNP? I am a little confused by the whole process but really want to apply for Fall 2015

As a Duke employee i looked into their NP program and the cost is closer to $80,000, depending on how many cresits you need. Base price is $1400 per credit. It is a good program but not worth the cost IMO. Currently NC does not accept all NP programs from out of state. If you call the NC board of Nursing they can tell you if it has been approved by the state. Unfortunately it is not the BON controlling it but a joint cooperation between the state and UNC.

Yeah, I figured it would be costly to attend their program! I believe Duke has a good program from what I have heard. As far as the cost, I'll have to work for the rest of my life to pay it off, lol.

It's unfortunate that NC has a very limited online NP program. Hopefully, it will change soon.

I am applying for fall 2015. I applied for spring 2015. I had to take the GRE to be eligible, some grades from a long time ago coming back to haunt me, though I missed the cut off just barely. They are rolling all my stuff over into this application, which I think is pretty nice.

Good luck to you.

Are you going FT or PT? I took the GRE 6 months ago, but my scores aren't competitive; however, my undergrad GPA is higher than a 3.4.

FT, I think. What's really a competitive score for duke? All they say is top 50%. I was 86 percentile for verbal and 66 percentile quantative so I think that's ok.

What are you going for, FT or PT?

I didn't do well on the quantitative portion I the GRE so I didn't submit test scores, relying on getting a waiver for admission.

I'm going for PT. Can't wait to start. I know that we probably won't "hear" anything till next year.

If you're over 3.4 you don't have to take the GRE for duke, do you?

You're probably right about not hearing until next year, I would love to just get started.

Documents all turned in. Now, the waiting game begins?
