DNP right after BSN

Hello all,

I am am currently a BSN student graduating this May. I applied to a DNP program where I would start in the fall and would be part-time for at least a year to gain some nursing experience. I've hear a lot of negative comments about doing this and how crucial experince is before continuing education. I agree with this, but I am still strongly considering the program and I'm looking for others who have went on for their DNP right away. I want to know how it was/is and if you would have done anything differently.

I agree with Boston, It highly depends on the individual. Some will be highly successful with this while others will struggle. You have to do what you feel is best for you. I think its great you want to pursue your DNP, just make sure you are prepared for the road ahead. Good luck!

Ignore any and all negative comments. Just about any program you choose someone will say something negative about some aspect of the program. Most negative comments come from folks who have not been there, so they don't really know.

I agree with the above posters, it is an individual decision, if that program works for you and your situation, go for it. If you feel you need a break, or more experience, or to take a trip to the moon first, well, then do what is right for you.
