Hi Demidoo-

I'm looking into applying for Bosie states program for spring of 2018 and I would love to hear about your experience!

how has finding preceptors been? Is it manageable to work full time throughout the program?

thanks!

Megan

Hi Megan,

Boise State has an exceptional NP program, being a distant student, securing a preceptor has been challenging as it is for locals too. I wouldn't let that be a major determinant.

Good Luck on your NP journey!!

.....and yes, totally manageable to work fulltime while in the program.

Hi Megan,

I am currently in the BSU program, and I am not particularly happy. Finding preceptors and sites has been the biggest challenge! If I had to do it all over again I would have found a program that finds your clinical preceptor and sites.

Also, I am finding learning online very challenging! There is a lot of reading, but very little teaching done. They are starting some live lectures for students, but it is just in the beginning stages.

Hope this helps.

Lebo2072-

Thanks!

i have only done classroom school in the past so the online learning is a concern for me- but I live in a small town and relocating isn't an option right now.

I haven't been able to find any programs that set up preceptors, but this is my biggest worry with most programs I'm looking into. I was reading that they have staff that helps with preceptors, has this been any help or does the majority of it fall on the student? Do you live near Boise?

Thanks for the feedback!

although I'm a bit concerned with finding preceptors it seems like that it's an issuer for all NP programs.

how tough of a program is it to get into?

the admission requirements don't seem very time consuming.

What is your opinion on the DNP vs MSN, do you think it would be smarter just to go for a bsn-DNP program or will an MSN still be sufficient in 5 years?
