Hey Everyone!

I have an interview for a school nurse position at an Intermediate School (7th & 8th graders) next week. I've been an RN for 5 yrs. Worked in the hospital for 1 yr (med/surg), Home Health 4 yrs and have been in Hospice for 1 yr. I am very nervous because I have never worked with pedi's before. Can anyone give me tips on what type of interview questions and/or scenario's I might be asked? What specific duties, problems/concerns, or teaching is specific to this age group of kids? (Dangers or Alcohol/Smoking, peer pressure, etc.) Also, what type of questions I might ask my interviewer?

Any input will be appreciated!!! Thank You! :nurse:

the biggest thing to remember when it comes to school nursing is that it's a delicate balance of education, minor first aid, pre-hospital emergency care, care for chronic conditions, screenings, and management of files and mandated paperwork. Brush up on assessment techniques and minor emergencies.

As far as questions for them - number of students, are you on teacher's salary guide?; do you get a prep period to get paperwork done? do you have any additional duties? Can you leave the building for lunch? What are the emergency procedures if there is an emergency in a classroom while you have an office full of students (assuming you are the only nurse)
