Blackhearted nurse, how is Kaplan program going? How many classes are you taking and how much time is it taking? To be completely honest, I am looking for the easiest accredited RN - BSN program I can find. My time is severely limited, and I expect I will only be able to take one or two classes at a time. Thanks for any input!

It is very doable, they make sure you understand how the program works before you start, you have a mentor who checks in with you on a weekly basis to make sure you are staying on track and answer any questions.I am a few classes in and it is mostly case studies where you are writting papersAs for time you go at your own pace and I could be further ahead if I would just buckle down, but I am going at a good pace, their have been other students who posted who stated they finished the program within 5-6 months

How is school going for you? I'm interested in WGU but concerned about the time. Those finishing in 5-6 months were probably not working, right? I work full time as an RN so I don't think I will be able to finish that fast, even without kids or a S/O. I would love to though. What was your time frame, and what do you think is a reasonable expectation? Looks like a doable program from what is stated on the website. Any advice?
Thanks for sharing.

It is very doable and it can be done while working full time. My problem right now, is I am just burnt out from school and I am laging. I have 11 credits left to finish by October, but I am just soooo tired of writting papers at this point. You do have a 90 hour community project to complete and I am having a hard time right now finding the time. The good thing about WGU is you have your program mentor who calls you every week to every other week to motivate you to stay on track and then the there is a mentor for the community project who calls and checks in with you as well.
Thanks for the info. I'm starting to line things up to do it. I have a few questions though. Does it require 90 hours of community nursing? I saw a post by another member who said to do the community course first. Agree? Maybe do this concurrently with another course? idk
BTW I hear its a lot of paper writing. Are these long like careplans?
Depending on your state you may be required to do community nursing clinical hours, mine is part of a larger research paper that I am writting, where I identified a community health problem in my community then researched who my community is working on the health problem, so I have to go and intervew nurses in the county health department, school nurses and planned parenthood, the research phone calls drive time interview time all adds up to 90 hours.
I am also working on another class at the same time. There were only a couple for care plans I had to write, it is mostly writting papers.

Some hopefully timesaving/helpful info:
WGU is a pass/fail school, and so if you wish to go on after their BSN please keep that in mind because many places won't take their credits, or find them "non-competitive" as I've been told. I tried the first semester at Ft. Hays, and there is a 1 credit introductory class that is worse than any class I have ever taken in my life! The professor asks way to much for 1 credit, doesn't teach a darned thing, and she asks questions on her exams that are nowhere to be found in the homework, textbook, assigned readings, or other literature, so good luck passing that, and she's the only one who teaches that particular class. Fort Hays seems promising, but they really need to correct that problem as I am sure they loose many excellent paying students due to her class.

I am doing the RN to BSN through a State University in my own state. It's way cheaper than private universities. It will be about 9k total. It's all online. It's a heck of a lot of work compared to other programs at local private colleges in my area. But I wanted all online and cheaper. Also, there is a lot of group projects 😩(I hear many RN to BSN programs have this). Mine just feels excessive. Group projects are the worst when everyone in your group likes to sit back and watch one or two people do all the work. I know a few people who did the online program through Grand Canyon And liked it.
