NVCC or Marymount??

Nursing Students ADN/BSN

I am looking for an accelerated program for 2nd degree people like myself. Currently I am a music teacher and I need to give my resignation notice by May 1st. So I want to pick a school that will allow me to start as soon as possible and cost the least amount of money since I am already in debt with college loans etc. I was strongly looking at Marymount and NVCC. I need to take my prereq's still so that will take longer but I'm concerned about waiting lists and/or not getting into the nursing programs. I really want to get started as soon as possible but I'm nervous about putting in my resignation without being able to start right away. I've done a ton of research and I know that this is definitely what I want to do (just wish I would have realized this before I got my music ed degree!). Any thoughts on Marymount and NVCC would be greatly appreciated as well as thoughts on waiting lists and getting accepted into schools. I always did really well in highschool with 4.0's or higher. College I got a 3.31 which is ok but I'm slightly older now and more responsible so the work load won't be a problem. thanks for all your help and advice!!

They are both good schools, but admissions is competitive for both programs. According to the Marymount website, the first deadline for Fall 2009 was February (although they are accepting applications until June). You'll need to have completed the course prerequisites and taken the TEAS test by the deadlines.

I encourage potential applicants to apply to multiple schools, and then see if they have more than one offer of admissions. Then you can make the best choice for you (also considering the tuition and aid).

Good luck
