CA BRN is no help, how do I transfer an inactive RN license to California... Help!

About 10 years ago, I placed my RN license on inactive status in the state of Missouri. With a husband in medical school and two infants, it was near impossible for me to work in a state far from home and help. Flash forward: 4 children later, moving to 3 different states, 5 years of residency and 4 years of military payback, I'm ready to get back to work as an RN. I loved working as an NICU nurse and I want to start working again! The only problem, I have no idea what it will take to activate my license in the state of California.

While the CA BRN website offers plenty of helpful information, it does not address my issue; "How do I transfer an inactive license in the state of Missouri to California?" My original license is from the state of UT and is expired (I don't know if that helps). Any help you can offer is appreciated. The CA BRN will not answer my phone calls, if you are lucky to get through and leave a message, they don't return it. If you are not lucky, they are so backed up, they simply disconnect you.

Thanks!

You may not be able to if your license was inactive for 10 years & (obviously haven't practiced). There is a limit on inactivity in most states. I think in CA it is 8 years from graduation and/or passing the NCLEX.

Let me see if I can find the link from CABRN

Here is the link regarding having an inactive license in CA or other state for 8 years or longer:

It looks like you need to retake the NCLEX.
