Nursing Students ADN/BSN

Published

I am still currently in high school and I am going to be a senior this year. I want to become a Registered Nurse. I am lost to even know where to start. I want good advice to which is better diploma, ADN, or BSN. In addition, or if it is better to become a LPN/LVN then RN. I also do not have a money tree in my backyard to spend on a private college. I also want to know which is better a four year school, two year school, or hospital like UPMC. I will be getting my CNA my senior year in high school (Hopefully). I love working with the elderly. Also, I was thinking about CCAC which is a two year program, but what I am confused on is the Prereqs, like I know you need to get them done before you even go in for nursing. I am just confused of where you would take the classes at like can you take them at CCAC and then apply for the nursing program. I am just confused on everything, PLEASE HELP!!!

Anyone who wants to become an RN right now, I would recommend going directly into a traditional 4-year BSN program through a local university (not a for-profit college). As far as your other questions, you would probably get better advice if you post it in your state's forums. I don't know what CCAC is.

Community college will surely be less expensive than any other setting to obtain your RN. You will graduate with an ADN from those programs. In today's world, you will want to get a job and then begin pursuing your BSN to insure your marketability no matter where you determine to live and work.

Good luck!
