I've always been interested in psychology so I'm considering going into nursing to become a psych nurse. I have the opportunity to do a free LPN program. However, can you work in psych as an LPN? How hard would it be to find a job in psych as an LPN? Or should I just skip over the free LPN program and pay to go into an RN program?

Recovery Innovations in Tacoma Washington pays psych LPNs $27 per hour, plus bonuses and shift differentials. The nurse manager, Joe, can give you a tour of the facility before you apply. 253-906-3192

I am an LPN and have been working in a Outpatient setting for Psychiatry. I live in Missouri. I'm sure it depends on what state you live in.

I am one of about 8 psychiatric LPNs on my acute behavioral health floor.

We only use LPNs and psych techs on our mental health unit for passing meds. They do safety rounds and meds. No charting, groups, etc. If you really want to work this field, skip the LPN and go straight to RN.

Yep. I am an LVN and I have been working at a psychiatric evaluation center for 5years. I do meds and assessments. I love it. What I would like to do is get a cert with the APN however am unsure that it is available for LVNs

Many places use LPNs as medication nurses
