Switching from Skilled/rehab/assisted living care to private duty care

I'm a Lpn who has worked in skilled nursing for 7 years. This year has been the worst experience mainly due to the company I've worked for. I've waited on a position that was offered to me for over 6months and they've yet to find replacement for my position so I've been held hostage on a shift and in a position I've tried to get out of. I am switching to private duty this month can anyone tell me what they did to adjust and how was the transition? I feel it will be less stressful where I'm going and also less workload.

I switched from LTC/subacute too. It was an adjustment caring for so many to just caring for one patient. If you get a great family/patient to take care of private duty is great. I get bored at times when the patients are sleeping but I am MUCH LESS stressed on a daily basis. There are some unique problems in private duty such as boundary violations but we all make mistakes when we start (such as giving them your phone #) or patients/families being too personal. Good luck, I am sure you will do great.
