Hi,
I'm on my second-to-last (penultimate!!!!) semester of prereques and will apply for the state U's BSN program next May. On their website, the Nursing College recommends that the student's corequisite coursework be completed by the time of admission. In my case, however, I won't have most of the courses complete. My question is how important/convenient/significant is it to have these general ed requirements completed BEFORE starting the BSN program? Has anyone started the programm while concurrently taking gen ed classes? What's the scoop here?
Thanks, and everybody take care!!!

I'm going for my ASN (and your completed co-reqs count for points to get in to the program) but from what I have heard, nursing school is so jam packed, that it really is beneficial for you to complete the co-reqs prior to starting your nursing courses so you can focus soley on those and not have to worry about having the "extra" work required of the co-reqs.
Makes sense to me actually.

If you don't have problems with time management and studying, I would think it would not be all that crucial, but it would certainly be more manageable to do your nursing class work without the co-req classes on top of everything else you are doing. I wouldn't delay going into a program for co-reqs, but if you have time to complete one or two before nursing school begins, I would certainly take as much as possible beforehand.

I'm in my last year BSN program. There was no way I could fit in any core classes with my nursing classes. Our program doen't even allow us to take any other classes besides nursing. That being said, I took as many classes as I could before starting the program. The remaining I just took over the summer between my junior and senior year.
Hope this is helpful
Best of luck
