What are my chances?

Hello all, I'm currently looking at applying to an ADN program in my area for Fall 2017. My current college GPA is a 2.89 and the minimum for the program is 2.75. To be admitted to the program, they take a look at SAT/ACT scores (SAT minimum is 920, and I have 960), overall GPA if you completed college work, High School GPA (minimum is 2.0), and HESI scores. I'm currently a senior in HS, and while my High School GPA is around a 3.5, I took Dual Enrollment classes at the college I plan on attending for Nursing and kinda screwed up in a Biology class, which caused my GPA to take a dip. The Biology class is a Pre-req for A&P but for some reason isn't required for general education courses for the program. Sorry that I'm so long winded, but I'm scared I may have really messed up.

It will depend on the college and the applicant pool. I will say the that I have seen many people get in nursing schools with the minimum GPA required. Don't count yourself out because you do have a decent chance. Maybe volunteer to get something else positive on your application. If you don't get in this time around maybe retake some classes and polish your application for next year.

You don't say what the average accepted applicant's GPA is for acceptance into the nursing program. You need to ask the program this so you have all the information. Also, it's hard to say if you still have prereqs left like A&P, etc. I would strongly encourage you to really focus on your grades right now. You're off to a bit of a rocky start. You need to buckle down and get really serious.

That depends on the program and your area. In Philadelphia, that would be a tough sell, but that may not be the case in your area. As above, you need to really focus on all of your future classes. AP is the foundation of nursing.

Thanks for the replies. I do agree that I need to buckle down and work hard in the upcoming semesters. I'm already looking at study materials and resources for the HESI so I can have a higher score which will hopefully give me some sort of an advantage.
