Wait for acceptance at a community college or start at private school?

Hello all....I'm a pre-nursing student trying to make a decision. I have these choices before me....I can start at a more expensive private school for nursing and start in a couple of months or I can wait and start at a community college in like January. I feel as though I would rather go ahead and start my LVN training....by January, I could have so much done already. I ultimately want to bridge to RN. Starting things sooner rather than later could prove most beneficial to my situation. I'm a Registered Medical Assist. for the past 5 years. I have plenty of experience....Just would like someone outside of my situation to provide a different perspective. Thank you. :rolleyes:

I chose a private college so I would get in right away, however I am doing my pre-nursing there also and they admit their pre-nursing students into the nursing program before outside students. It's my understanding that that is the norm amoung private colleges.

I also chose a private college for other reasons which I will list, but if you are interested feel free to skip over this useless rant :)

*The classes are smaller, so for instance when we share cadavers it's about 5 to 1, not 100 to1.

*You get to work one on one with a nurse in clinicals, around here you don't get that at the CC or big university

*You get the chance to know your instructor personally and that's a big help if you sometimes need a second explaination or one on one sessions.

I could just go on and on, but the choice of your path is yours. Follow your gut instincts, it won't lead you down the wrong path :D

How much money do you have to spend/are we willing to take on in student loans? That's the key question here when you're talking about only a few months wait.

Some people will criticize you for taking on lots of loans, but, quite frankly, I'm not paying them so I couldn't care less what you do with your money.

Thanks to all so far....the loans, that's not an issue. I'm willing to do what it takes if it means doing what I love and was meant to do. Just like to see situations from different perspectives to gain a better understanding of what the outcomes and options may be.
