UTHSCSA - Accelerated Nursing Program 2014

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello Future UTHSC-SA Nurses!

I know the deadline isn't until December, but I figured I could start the thread for all those preparing to apply so that we can begin the angst about getting accepted!

Also, I am moving to Texas from Washington State so I have a lot of nerves about a move like that and could use a thread to ask questions on housing, bus-lines, etc., etc.

I just took my TEAS V and am about to complete my Psych 200, then it's all waiting from here on out! I've already called the school several times to ask clarifying questions, so I may have an answer if you have a question! I'm hoping to fly down for the April 3 information session as well.

So, are there any others out there?

Sitting in the airport (SAT). Had registered for Mar. 1 info session, received my meeting canceled notice the day after buying plane tkt. Non-refundable of course, so off to SA anyway to learn about neighborhoods and travel times. Have a look at Vintage on Louis Pasteur for convenience and security.

Good luck

Oh no! That's awful. I am going to the April 3rd (hopefully) since the March one was cancelled. That's a bummer. I hope you got some good ideas on housing and commute times. I've been in the area several times, but never to the school, specifically. Seems to be a lot of housing close by, I will look into the ones you suggested, thank -you!

Have you taken your TEAS V yet?

It's unlikely that I'll be doing the ABSN, but I'm hoping to start the traditional BSN next fall (2015) at UTHSCSA. I went to an info session last month, and I'm going to the next one in April as well. I've not taken my TEAS yet, and I probably won't until way later this year as I think the next application cycle doesn't begin until August. I've started my NursingCAS application, and the only 2 things I'm waiting on are completing my 2 Chemistry classes + Microbiology, and then also the new application cycle that I mentioned.

Unsure of the type of housing that most interests you. Proximity is more important to some and security moreso for others. Many (a majority) of the properties in San Antonio, including UTHSCSA, are gated and I can take a hint.

Traffic in and around San Antonio is impressive and will encourage most to live close to campus. Almost all rental properties accept pets. Have a look at Trulia and Zillow they have pretty good listings and Trulia has a tool that provides info for areas that includes detailed crime data around areas of interest.

I was also attracted to some apt./condos ~ 1.5 miles from campus (UTHSCSA) called Roanoke Run. Its worth a look; not really walking distance like Vintage but it has some good attributes.

I'm approaching my TEAS exam with caution and will probably sit for them in June. Hope you scored well on yours!

Good luck
