Straight A's in Science prereqs?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I really want to make straight A's in all of my science prereqs. Has anyone made straight A's in all of the science prereqs? And if so, how much studying did it take?

I received all A's in my Science and most Nursing prereq's. I'd say the hardest class for me was Chemistry. This class is a toughie, and I took a "hybrid" course - part online and part at school. I felt like I was teaching Chemistry to myself (a subject I knew relatively little about). The work load and studying was immense. The Chemistry professor was amazing; she enjoyed teaching and made the course fun (though challenging). I love Biology and Sciences: A/P I and II, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Pathophysiology required lots of studying though I really enjoy these subjects so it was easier for me. Overall, know how best you study, take these courses with professors who have good reputations (and enjoy teaching, fun and fair), keep up on all assignments and stay organized, ask questions when you're unclear or need more direction, and if there is any extra credit - take it! Lastly, what I find that works best for me (prior to taking tests) start in advance about a week or so prior to the exam. Allow a day for each chapter: re-read the chapter, read/make notes and memorize, do this for each chapter the test is on. Allow one final day at the end to review all chapters/notes - this will solidify the material and you will be set to go!

Good luck!

PS. In terms of hours - hard to pinpoint. Some days I spend a few hours on homework and reading chapter work per class. As exams came closer, I'd spend 4-6 hours a day. The day after a test (I'd allow myself a free day if I had no other tests coming up) :)

Thanks everyone! I feel very encouraged! I have received some great advice and I really appreciate the time u guys took to respond to my post in such detail! I will definitely put the recommendations to use. I have a 15 year old, a 3 year old and 4 month old, my house gets pretty hectic, but I make sure I spend time studying and will feel so accomplished when I'm done with my prereqs and get into nursing school :)

You can definitely get straight As in prerequisites but lower your expectations slighlty for nursing school!

Oh yeah, I don't expect to make straight A's in nursing school. I was strictly referring to prereqs

So far I made all A's in all my science classes. I am on my last pre-req which is Sci25, a mix of chemistry and physics and I am so worried. I do all the reading and even look up extra information to help myself gain a better understanding. I am a very visual hands on learner, my professor is so bent on us reading from the textbook and minimally going over things in class. I have found so far reading the textbook for this class confuses me more than it helps me. I am going to look into tutoring and keep my fingers crossed!!!! Need to get into the program!!!!! ahhhh this is going to be one hell of a semester =\
