Can anyone please tell me what the "second semester of Elementary Foreign Language" requirement is? I have a B.S. degree but never took a foreign language in college. Does this mean I have to take a full year of a foreign language in order for admission???

Do you speak any other language other than English? If so, you maybe exempt from a foreign language course. I speak Russian and some Spanish, and I did take 2 semesters of Spanish and one semester of Italian in college. However, I was exempt based on my Russian fluency.

Yes, you'll have to take a year's worth of foreign language classes. If those are the only classes you need, you might be out of luck. You should call the department and ask them or attend an info session. Even if you don't speak another language fluently, but you remember the basics (or are capable of learning yourself), ask if you can CLEP it. Often the fee to CLEP is less than taking the actual course, but it is an exam you need to prepare for unless you are bilingual. I'm not exactly sure about the details for CLEPing but ask SBU.

Thanks. I was tested out of American Sign Langauge 1 so I could just take a semester of ASL 2 .
