  1. I have heard that you have to be in advanced standing on the TEAS... it depends on the scores of the other applicants too. If there are more people who scored higher they r obviously taken first. An 80 on the TEAS is good. I have a friend who got accepted with an 84 on the TEAS. Another one had a 78 and didn't make it. Good luck!!
  2. One way to move past memorizing is to pick a topic like Proteins and then think of all of the things you know about them in some kind of logical order. What are they synethized from, where? How? What function do they have in the body? Then you begin to connect dots. Memorizing works only so far because we then have to apply the knowledge to situations like in AP2 lab where we r given a case study with a list of symptoms and we have to determine what is and isn't occurring in the body systems. So yes, the knowledge must go past memorizing and into critical thinking as we learn more information.
  3. That's the best advise too! Always read ahead so that in lecture it's notnnew info but it's a a review of at least most of the material...
  4. Ok listen. I want to help. I got A's in AP and it's doable but you MUST do a few things. 1. You have to stop procrastinating NOW. AP IS A TON of information and you don't want to get behind. You'll be miserable trying to cram and this is NOT a cram course. 2. Read assignments and then go online to YouTube and type in whatever the topic is and watch great videos with animations. This REALLY helps plus it gives you the info from another person and medium. KAHN Academy is good. There are others including Crash Course. 3. You won't do well unless you're willing to put in ALOT of time studying. AP builds on itself and is essential to understand if your going to do well in AP2 because AP 2 assumes you understood things like transport proteins in AP 1. So when you study the Endocrine system in AP 2, You'll Understand right away what is going on. Professors don't re-teach AP 1 concepts so u need to understand them thoroughly now in order to move at the AP 2 pace. If you're willing to put the time and effort in you should be able to do it but it's serious. Plus, who would want any nurse taking care of them who DIDNT put the time in studying anatomy and physiology?? Just do it!
  5. I heard from multiple people that they thought the prep course was kind of a waste of money. I have the books and also there are LOTS of great videos on YouTube. When I found a math problem I struggled with I'd go to YouTube and watch an instructional video. Also Mometrix is on YouTube and they have TEAS prep videos. Good luck !!
  6. I would check with the nursing schools younare going to apply to before taking Anatomy and Physiology because at least here in NY they won't accept any science courses that were done online. They want you to have been in the class and have done all the hands on laboratory hours.
  7. What were your TEAS science scores? I know Suffolk the composite score fornadmission is usually very high 70's into the 80's and above
  8. I was wondering how many problems there are and how long you have to complete it? Thanks! Also, are there any difficult conversion problems or graphing linear equations? I would def need to go over those ! Thank you!!
  9. This CANNOT POSSIBLY BE A LEGIT QUESTION CAN IT? -at least I hope it's not.
  10. Someone just posted that she's from Commack and got an 84 on the TEAS and WASNT accepted....
  11. That's insane! I thought those scores were definites...unless lots of applicants scored higher? I agree. I don't think they do what they say re decisions either...
  12. I find that going into YouTube and watching good videos on the AP topics helps solidly and explain things with video animations as well. Some good ones are from Beverly Biology, Bozeman Science and Kahn Academy. Good luck. It is a a lot of info but it all builds and will make sense when studying diseases in nursing school! Keep working!
  13. I'm confused about this because someone earlier posted she got an 80 on the TEAS and had all. It the biomedical ethics prerequisites completed and didn't get in but saw others with lower TRAS scores get accepted. She got the additional points added to her rubric for scoring "advanced" on the TEAS. It seems that although they say it is only the rubric, it isnt based on the info she gave.
  14. Got it. Thanks for clarifying. I know how expensive Adelphi is. I'm hoping for the 1 year program at Stonybrook- much more affordable that Adelphi and closer to me as well... best of luck to you!
