Should I Just Give Up

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am a 23-year-old student enrolled at Aiken Tech trying to get into the nursing program soon. I've been in college since I graduated high school in 2012. I was initially in the pre-nursing program at Augusta State, but my priorities became jumbled. Living at home and helping my parents raise my little brother (they both have full-time jobs) and helping them with their school work caused my grades to slip terribly because I neglected my own studies, even the ones I kept retaking. I was then suspended from school because of my grades and I took a break, went to get my CNA but on the day of my exam I had to stay with my little brother because he had the flu, but I loved clinicals and it sounds stupid but I loved cleaning up and taking care of those residents, absolutely loved it. Then applied to Aiken Tech hoping for a fresh start well I still had the same responsibilities and I failed one of my core classes so I get no points for it. I have a C in my first anatomy class. Well due to my parents separating, I am now living alone, and taking my Bio 211( the second part of my anatomy class), I'm doing well so far and hoping to finish out with an A but my question is with my GPA at a 2.3 right now, I just realized how much I screwed myself and failed myself at achieving my dreams of being a nurse, is it still possible to be able to be accepted into the program. Does anyone have any advice on how to get back on track? There is no question that I want to be a nurse, it has always been a passion of mine and I cant see myself doing anything else but should I just let it go? I feel so lost right now.

What does the nursing advisor at Aiken Tech tell you?

Well in the beginning when I first started last year he said it was still plausible, but I had to put my foot down to my parents and focus on my own studies. And he was very vague the last time I talked to him, just told me to finish my classes and I can apply soon.
