Preparing for TEAS Exam

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I have been studying to take the TEAS exam during the first week of January. I've been studying the ATI book and testpreview.com. I have not taken the online practice exam yet. If anyone has taken the TEAS test, please help me with the following questions/concerns.

What is the best way to prepare for the TEAS exam?

Are the questions more like the questions in the book or on testpreveiw.com ?

Are your practice test scores (either the ATI online test or book test) an accurate reflection of the TEAS exam ?

Which practice tests are the most accurate ? (ATI online test, ATI book or testpreview.com questions ?

Are many of the most commonly used words in the reading section?

If so, are they used like they are in the ATI book or on the testpreveiw.com ?

Any advice for the math and science portions ? Such as, What is esstential to know ? What are the most common problem types ( such as word problems, charts percentages, gemoetry ect for math) and (definitions, charts, terms, bio, chem, general and physical science for science)

I purchased the NET book from ERI website and it helped ALOT.

The questions on my NET test were comparable to the ones in the book.

I haven't taken the TEAS yet (Jan 16th or something like that), but I think the NET looks easier.

My NET had 30 math and 30 reading questions.

I took the TEAS test twice, because the schools that I am applying for require you to take it at that location. I got accepted to one school and waiting for test results from the other. (Some schools tell you right away, other's do not). The study guide contains more information than the online test. I took the online practice test too. I would definately recommend the study guide. I barely finish the math on time. I think to save time you sometimes have to use the process of elimination to get rid of answers. Also when you are doing problems, sometimes it is possible to eliminate 3 of the 4 choices before solving the whole problem. Then if you have time you can go back and double check everything. Just practice doing problems over and over and consider purchasing the study guide, which also contains practice tests. hope this helps, good luck !

I've never taken the NET, but talked to students and teacher's who took the test or taught the prep courses for it. Overall, many say that it is easier because it does not contain the science and englisg sections. However, if your test is not computerized, you really have to focus on your time. Students who took both told me tha studying for the NET should help you with the TEAS, but its still important to study for each one individually. Good LUck !

Thank you everyone for your advice!! :wink2:

Great advice. I'm taking the TEAS at the end of next week and am so very nervous. I keep doing horrible on the Science practice tests. Everything else is fine, I just cannot do well in the Science. The questions are so random. This may take a miracle to get through...

Does anyone know where I can find information on TEAS prep. courses?

I graduated from college nine years ago. Took the TEAS Friday, Jan.9th. The test was a breeze. I studied for two weeks using the ATI TEAS Guide and a little of the Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exam. Kaplan was a little more difficult. Time yourself with every test you take in ATI or both books. Give yourself a minute per question. If you can complete the test in a timely matter you will do well. Time seems to pass faster during the math section. It is due to some of the questions being so wordy (is that a word). I will not know my scores until Monday or Tuesday. I took the pencil/paper exam at Kennesaw State University in GA. Good Luck to everyone!!!

is anyone up or on here that can please help me. I take the teas test at 8 am and I am still studying. This is totally a last minute thing... PLEASE HELP! Are there any questions that anyone remembers? I am horrible at math and science...

This gives me hope as I take my TEAS on March 11. I do have the book from ATI and have been told that basically the questions that are in the book are on the test just worded differently. So wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ati bk doesnt cover much science part...wats a good way to practice for it? anyone know?

I am taking it on March 19, and I heard they ask stupid questions on the science section. Know your rocks and clouds. Know the conversion from C to F, foil method, fractions. I am studying from the study manual and from other sources cause most of this stuff is taught in middle school but people do bad cause they forget or just to worried!
