NLN question

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Has anyone here taken the NLN entrance exam? I am taking it sept 6th. I am really starting to get anxious! It is a 3 hr test, with 3 sections: math, science, and language. I really don't feel ready for the math part. If anyone has taken it, please let me know what kind of math problems are on it. I am very weak in math, and we can't use a calculator. I might postpone taking the test. If I do that, I won't be able to get in until next fall. The sept test would get me in for january. The competition is really high at the school I go to. For this fall, there were 60 spots, and the lowest NLN score was a 90. I am having a hard time making a decision. I can only take the NLN once in a 6 mo period. If I take it, and don't get in, I won't be able to try to get in until spring of 2007! Any suggestions? I might try a different school. I think it is easier to get in to some other schools. The one I looked at has a move involved looking program though. I hate being indecisive. Thanks for any ideas.

Sorry.. I haven't taken it yet but I feel for you. I must do well on that to get into the nursing program for fall of 2006. I'm taking mine in Jan or Feb. Good Luck and let us know how it goes. In the meantime I bought a book, (Practicing for the NLN..something like that). Pretty much takes you through what to expect and gives you lots of practice tests. Let me tell you..I AM NOT doing well and that's just on the vocab part which is my strong suit. I can't even imagine the math part!! GOOD LUCK!

Where are you taking it anywhere near NJ please respond [email protected] I need to take it befor January please help I am willing to travel

Hello,

I took it back in Dec. and I can honestly tell you that the math was not that bad. It was pretty much basic algebra and lots of fractions and decimals. The study guide mentioned above was what I used to prepare and it's the same thing as the actual exam only different questions.

The English was very easy as well. There was a part of comprehensive vocab and the other you had to read passages and stories and answer questions about the passage.

The science was kind of more difficult. Only because it had lots of Chemistry and Physics (which I had not taken yet) but managed to do well. There are a few Anatomy and Physiology questions and maybe Bio.

Best wishes to you. :)
