Need help where to take nursing prerequisites

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I will need suggestions on where to take nursing prerequisites for accelerated BSN and the possibility of completing all prerequisites within one year.

I hold BS Biology from a university abroad and I'm not very sure if the school Im applying would transfer some of science Credit.

I am planning to apply for spring of 2019 at UTHealth Science Center at Houston and AOBSN at UTA

If you are currently in the US, I'd suggest looking at the community colleges near you as probably the cheapest option. Whether you science courses would transfer totally depends on the college you attended and the colleges you will be attending now. I know there are times when overseas college credits will transfer, but you might also have to retake those classes. Ultimately, it would be a question for the colleges you would like to attend. Most likely, you will have to send over the transcripts and apply to them before they'll be able to 100% confirm if the courses will transfer or not. But they should at least be able to give you an idea.

Also, I would start the process as soon as possible, as I imagine it will take a bit longer for your transcript to be evaluated.

Depending on what transfers, I'd think you could be able to get prereqs done in a year. It might take some planning to ensure that you have other courses that some of the nursing prereqs require.

@idkmybffjill thanks for your response. Do I need my evaluated transcripts to register for the prerequistes or I can make do with my BSc certificate because I want to start as soon as possible while waiting for my transcripts.

You will be able to take any of the courses that do not require a prereq itself, like A&P, unless you have taken the prereq here beforehand. For instance, I believe it was microbiology that required a chemistry course, and I had to wait for them to evaluate and transfer the credit to my current college before I could enroll in micro. I was able to tell them which courses needed to be evaluated for those reasons, and they did those first. That might save you a bit of time.
