Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Currently have a straight B in my pre-reqs which includes Ap1, Ap2, Psych, Stats. I have an A in English. Then I have a B- in Micro and Chemistry. I feel pretty disappointed in my grades, but I'm not sure if I'm overreacting. Should I go ahead and apply to the ADN/RN program or retake any of the classes? I might be too hard on myself. Any advice is welcomed! Thanks! The school only requires you to have a B- in your Pre reqs listed.

It depends on your school. Some don't like to see repeats, other don't factor that at all. Some average the grades and some replace them - so repeating a class does more good at some schools than others. Some consider gpa almost exclusively and other schools don't factor it in at all (as long as you pass the prereqs) or you factor in other things too (like test scores, interviews, essays).

The disadvantage of this diversity, is it is confusing and sometimes bites you later if you become interested in a different school.

The advantage of this diversity, is that you aren't locked out - can find a school that fits you. There is a place for both the 4.0 gpa student who freezes in interviews and for the student with so-so grades who shines in interviews.

Agreed! It depends on the program you want to apply. I know some community college Nursing programs are pretty easy to get into and I know that some of them are fairly competitive. Maybe try and apply to multiple nursing programs to maximize your chances?

I also have my Bachelors and I receive an additional half a point (.5) on my application. They said it should help with my application. Crossing fingers!
