Hi I'm looking to make the most out of a paper for my med. terms class that requires me to research any disease or condition of choice. I'd like ideas and especially ones that an rn encounters the most with patients if there really is such thing as a common disease to an rn. I appreciate all ideas maybe if you suggest something you find interesting it would help me out

Interesting .

Pick a disease or condition you've always been interested in or don't really quite understand a lot about. Did you know of someone who had a particular disease or condition?

i would choose one that has plenty of info on.

If you're looking for something that will also be valuable in your nursing career, I strongly suggest Sepsis. There is a very real problem with early identification of sepsis in the US... mostly due to lack of understanding of the pathology. Hospitals have implemented all sorts of mechanisms to improve the situation, but it is still a very big issue.

I also suggest picking a couple of topics that interest you ... and then spend some time searching the literature on that topic to help make the final decision. Don't pick a topic you can't find a lot of information on that will help you with the type of paper you need to write. Chose a topic for which it is easy to access the exact type of literature you need to write your paper.

I also STRONGLY suggest that you pick a topic that will likely to be common in the types of settings you will want to work in after graduation. That way, you can include the paper on your resume (as a special student experience relevant to the job you will be applying for). You want the hiring manager to believe that you have a special interest in that population of patients and will be easy to orient because you already know about some of their most common problems. (In other words, don't pick something exotic and unlikely to be encountered -- no matter how interesting it is. That won't help you get a job.)
