How many of you have children or had children while you were pursuing your degree?

I have 6 children, all 8(in Nov) and younger. No multiples. My husband says he supports me in pursuing finishing my degree but is it even possible? I also have to work FT or at least 32hrs in order to support us. My wonderful husband works from home and cares for the children while I work. We also Homeschool. Just trying to find a school is becoming overwhelming as I have done all of my 94credits online.

Well I have an interview for a hospital job(clerical) tomorrow. :) might be helpful to already be in the door for the future :)

I also have 6 children and am working on my prerequisites. I have been trying to get through school since 1998, but I obviously was having babies and having to work made it hard. I went to school off and on with a couple years off here and there. Sometimes I think that I cannot do this because I need to attend to my kids and work, but I am still going for it. My husband is very supportive but he also works 6 days a week, 10 hour days. My dad helps with the kids a lot but I feel bad too at the same time because he is 72 years old already. All in all, it IS hard but it can be done if you are organized and have really good time management skills. You can do it! Good luck to you! :)

CONGRATS!!!! We only have each other since we live at least 11 hrs away from family but my husband is supportive!

Tons of moms go into nursing. There are many posts on this topic. When I began prereqs nearly 5 yrs ago, I searched for inspirational stories about moms on AN.com. I copied them and saved them and printed a copy to put in my school binder. I had a tab called "motivation" or "nurspiration".

I am a mom. I started RN/BSN prereqs when my littlest was 4 and my oldest was a high school.freshman.

Along the way, my husband left us when I couldn't work because of my school schedule. I continued and completed every prereq with an A.

Then I went to LVN school and graduated with a 3.6 GPA. (Straight As first 3 terms then I quit caring the final term, lol!)

I went back to the university and completed my last semester if prereqs with almost all As. Took a C in nutrition of all classes! I was working nearly full time as an LVN at that point

So, yeah, moms can do this and do become nurses!

I'm set to apply to RN school next year and I have a 9 yr old, 15 yr old and 19 yr old who just finished her 1st year of college.

In the meantime, I work full time as an LVN in a job I love. I can bring my son to school every day. I'm so thankful to God for getting me this far!

You can do it, too! Maybe you can do it Better!

I have a 12 yo and an 11 yo. I will be finished with my prerequisites next semester! It has been challenging but with the help of my mom and husband, I'm doing it. Stay strong and remember why you want this. I'm sure you can do it!

I have a 9 month old, working FT, and just started my prereqs. Currently, I am only taking one class at night (4 credits). Come Spring, I plan on taking 10 credits and cutting my hours at work down to about 24 hours/3 days a week. I feel like I have no room to complain after reading what some of these other posters are doing! But it still crushes me every time I have to kiss my son goodbye to leave for work or go to class. I just keep reminding myself that what I am doing now will only benefit him in the long run.
