LPN while on RN wait list?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I currently hold a B.S. in Marketing but have decided to go back to school for nursing. Right now I'm taking my pre-reqs at Valencia College. Once those are completed, I can apply to the RN program, where they accept everyone (and then weed them out through the nursing classes). Due to this, there is a two year wait list from the time you apply/are accepted until your class starts. I could complete a one-year LPN program at Orlando Tech while on this wait list and get started working in the nursing field sooner. Does this seem like a decent idea?

Before it's mentioned, I have looked into the A-BSN program at UCF but I've heard that it's so intense that it's nearly impossible to work during it at all and I NEED to work.

Sure, why not? No reason for you to just sit around (I know that's not what you're doing), get some experience make money and start networking.

That's a really long wait. o.O

It is a long wait.. But the LPN to RN bridge also has no wait right now so I'd still end up with an ADN faster and for around the same price.. I think.

Has anyone ever done LPN at OTech then RN at Valencia after already having a bachelors degree and the Valencia RN pre-reqs complete? I'm interested in knowing whether or not I'll also be able to complete the OTech program faster since I have a handful of classes already done.

I am doing similar, I'm now a LPN, I'm in a RN program now, then BSN and so on.

I have no regrets at all. Working as a nurse is all I wanted to do.

I am a nurse and love my path.
