Low gpa. Should I retake?

In my prenursing classes, I have mostly As but I have 2 Bs in a&p. Not good I know, but im shooting for ab A in micro. My school doesn't allow you to retake courses youve passed and they count the first time you passed even if you retake it at another school. My gpa is really low. I have a few Cs on my transcript. One from when I was in hs taking a course a long time ago, then a C from a creative writing class in screwed up in, and a semester I was pregnant and extremely ill I got Cs in two classes that pretty much were easy A classes . but I was just too sick to attend! What sucks is these C classes were all easy classes. Its a shame. But anyways thety really brought down my gpa. I cant take them but I can take a very similar equivalent. For ex, one was fashion 1, I can take fashion 2? Its kinda pointless but those bad marks are driving me crazy. My gpa is 3.4 or 3.55 if I transfer to a UC. But I feel like I couldnt get into a 4 year colleges nursing program with my grades. I really don't know what to do. I get a little depressed looking at my gpa and fear I wwon't get in anywhere. I got a teas score of 79 but plan on retaking. Anyone have any advice? Do I have a chance? Any advice is much appreciated.

Does your college count your full GPA or pre-req GPA? My overall is 3.1 because C's got degrees when I was younger. In my nursing pre-reqs I have a 3.8, which is all my school looks at.

I think the two B's in AP should be ok. Most places want a C+ minimum. You are better off retaking the classes you received a C in if you can. And your GPA is not that low. I came in here thinking you had a 2.0 or something. and if you can't retake the classes with the C's taking the next class(like the fashion 2) as you mentioned will boost your over all GPA. But like amberdawn said find out what GPA the school will be looking at,overall or prereq.

They're only looking at prenursing prereqs not overall GPA. No worries. B's in a+p are fine and your teas score is good.

It is off point system and looks at prereq gpa. But I wanted to apply at other schools as well although idk how realistic that is (with a baby). Oh well ill try anyways. Thanks

Yea ill try thay. Maybe it seems so low because for one it used to be higher and also so many people on this site complain about their 3.8 gpas making me feel reeal dumb lol.

They are probably talking about their science gpa's - and 3.8 is pretty high (all A's and some A-'s). Most people don't have straight A's, so don't feel dumb - thats just silly! Aside from the C's, you get good grades. When I had a 3.8-4.0, I was amazed at how a couple B+'s can significantly drop a gpa. I have a 3.7 now, and am amazed at how some people can maintain any higher because I have nearly all A's and worked very hard for them. My school requires a 96% for an A....in A&P, we could only miss up to 22 questions total out of 8 exams (400+ questions), a final, plus an essay. That is insane.

I think your gpa is good...yes, it's not as good as you want it to be, but with a little effort you can improve it! If I were you, I'd study really hard and try to get a really high score on the TEAS. That will help you in admissions! Admissions essay's can be a big deciding factor as well.
