Here is some inspiration, courtesy of the chive!

I know we're all anxious for this semester, no matter what classes we're doing.

Awww! Love this!:D

I love the duck!

Speaking of anxiety, i am very anxious and nervous over school. I'll start my first semester BSN in a week and I already feel the stress as the start approaches. I don't fear the studies as much as I fear not geeting along with other students and not being able to communicate properly with everyone. I heard that nurses can sometimes be mean to other nurses who speak a different language or have a different cultural background, either because they don't have time to repeat or explain in a better way, or simply they are impatient. I'm not a nurse yet, but I can't stop worrying. What if I find myself left out and no body wants to work with me, or explain something to me? what if every gets it the first time except me? I' have been living in the US for 4 and 1/2 years, but I still struggle with the language, especially the speaking part. i did very well on the prereq, i was able to maintain a 4.0 gpa through the course of my prereq and i was accepted the first time i applied for traditional BSN, but i feel like nursing school is a different story and i wonder if I'll be able to make it to the end. Does anyone in the same situation as mine, or does anyone know people who struggle with the language like me and going to nursing school. Any insights would be appreciated.

I was also born in different country, but I have been living in this country about 6 years now.

Luckily, I have not had any problems with other students (except some students, but most everybody did not get along with them). I think being able to survive in the nursing is a challenging for us. When we get out BSN and pass NCLEX, and become a nurse. We will see new nursing students who have same cultural background. That point, we would know how that student would feel about them.

I think I would ignore and stood up to those who are ignorant to me in the class.

That's just my thought about nursing school. I start mine in Fall of 2014.

Thanks halfglassfull for the reply. It feels good to know we are not alone.

Yep. Don't give up on anything. Everyone would get that feeling at some point.

If your future classmates are anything like me then they'll be be extra helpful to you. :)

We get a lot of Nigerian immigrants at my school and whenever they needed something I was happy to be their go to guy.

Wow! I wish I was as good at a second language as you guys are at English. Seriously, I have seen quite a few posts on this site made my native English speakers and I could barely understand what they were trying to say. Good job! I think you'll do great! We are a melting pot after all ;)

Thanks Sarahd333 for the compliment. It's true that many native English speakers tell me that my english is , that there is nothing to worry about, but I know i do better in writing than in speaking and it's really frustarating. I just hope my future classmates will be understanding and patient with me.

The English word that confuses me the most (and I'm a native speaker), is "Wednesday". Like uhhhh the n is in the wrong place and where did that second e come from??
